Discover! English Language Arts Curriculum
Discover! ELA courses are ideal for students at all academic levels because they include remediation support through consistent practice exercises as well as learning extension activities. Discover! ELA curriculum covers all essential ELA components for each grade level–no extra spelling or handwriting courses required!
Grade 1
In Grade 1 Discover! ELA, students will learn all about nouns, verbs, and vowels while exploring sentences, narratives, and so much more! Chapter Assessments prioritize hands-on projects, but also offer traditional tests as an alternative assessment.


Grade 2
In Grade 2 Discover! ELA, students will learn all about consonants and vowels as well as story structure. Chapter Assessments prioritize hands-on projects, but also offer traditional tests as an alternative assessment.
Grade 3
In Grade 3 Discover! ELA, students will explore various parts of speech and how they can be used in various types of writing, all while diving into different types of texts as well as the theme of friendship. Chapter Assessments use traditional tests as the primary mode of assessment, with hands-on projects offered as alternative assessments.


Grade 4
In Grade 4 Discover! ELA, students will explore reading and writing, synonyms and antonyms, and much more while diving into various components of writing through the use of historical topics and career choices. Chapter Assessments use traditional tests as the primary mode of assessment, with hands-on projects offered as alternative assessments.
Grade 5
In Grade 5 Discover! ELA, students will continue their exploration into reading and writing, learn about problem solving and conflict resolution, and take a deep dive into tenses while also understanding the concept of compare/contrast…and much more! Chapter Assessments use traditional tests as the primary mode of assessment, with hands-on projects offered as alternative assessments.


Grade 6
In Grade 6 Discover! ELA, students will strengthen their parts of speech knowledge while learning about different forms of writing, including poetry, autobiographies, historical fiction, and more! Chapter Assessments use traditional tests as the primary mode of assessment, with hands-on projects offered as alternative assessments.
